Therapist Training Levels
LEVEL I
Level 1 focuses entirely on self-experience and personal awareness. You learn about your behaviour, attitudes and feelings towards yourself and others, your responsibilities, actions and reactions concerning authority, relationships, families, communities and the planet. You learn to give and receive love
PROGRAM
- Participation in nine weekend workshops As a participant, you join the workshops, follow the group structures and you experience all the techniques yourself. Before and after each group there is a sharing to integrate your experiences.
- One month residential extended workshop The theme of the month-long program varies each year. Whatever the theme, it is always an intensive adventure in relating with others, that brings you closer to who you are.
EVALUATION
- Successful completion of Level I is not measured in terms of knowledge or skills. Rather, it is based on your willingness to use all of the experience of the training to discover yourself.
Course Counsellors: Isha & Gabi
LEVEL II
Level II focuses on taking responsibility for yourself, while becoming aware of the actions, intentions and needs of the people around you. You continue to develop yourself, and as a junior trainee on the group staff, you begin to share what you have already learned. The challenge is to learn to take care as well as to participate in the group or sessions. There are tutorial days to help you integrate your practical work and your theoretical studies.
PROGRAM
- Junior trainee in the nine Weekend Workshops. As a caretaker you assist the staff in organising the group. You attend the caretaker meetings, help in the structures and work on the assignments given to you. If structures or techniques used are unknown to you, you have the chance to learn by joining the group.
- Caretaker in the one-month residential extended workshop
- Tutorial days connected with the training weekends. Your theoretical studies are related to the topics of the weekend workshops.
- Submit a paper of a summary not more then one A4 page, describing one topic in psychology relevant to your personal experience in the training and distribute it to your peer group
PROGRESS EVALUATION
- Your willingness to learn: your ability to take a position and to remain open to feedback.
- Your personal motivation to continue to train to work with people.
- Your ability to stay centered while involved in your personal process and the group process at the same time.
- Your skills and ability to work with people.
- Your presence: your ability to give, and be aware.
- Your clarity of expression.
- Your availability: being open for the needs of the workshop participants.
- Your flexibility: your ability to respond to changes.
- Your organisational capabilities.
- Your active participation: your willingness to present ideas and suggestions.
- Your ability to make friends in the workshop and with the staff.
Course Counsellors: Ketu
LEVEL III
At this level you will deepen what you started at Level II, and you will develop your professional skills. Feedback is used extensively as an aid to learning. As an Assistant Staff you work in a responsible way in the workshops, under supervision, guiding the group through given structures. You also begin to train the junior trainees. This position requires a high amount of sensitivity and awareness about what is going on within you and others under stressful and unexpected conditions. During this part of the training, you can experience your theoretical work in practice: humanistic and trans-personal psychology, different body/mind approaches and different paths towards meditation.
PROGRAM
- Participant in a professional development program, including administrative and organisational skills.
- Assistant staff in five Multiversity workshops
- Supervision of traineeship with tutorial days
- Submit a summary paper of not more than two A4 pages on a chosen topic of Humaniversity Psychology, discussing one relevant theoretical background with your personal experience and present it as a seminar to your peer group (20min.).
PROGRESS EVALUATION
- You will be involved in a process of continuous self-assessment. You will be able see how you are developing, and how you are able to integrate your skills and theoretical studies with your work as an Assistant Staff.
Course Counsellors: Geetee & Muskan
LEVEL IV
At Level IV you follow an intensive program of workshops to develop your professional and organisational skills. Your theoretical studies are an assimilation of the material of the second and third levels, with specialisation into certain therapeutic approaches. In addition to the program, you are on the group staff of five workshops, to be arranged in consultation with the Course Counsellor.
PROGRAM
- Participation in professional development workshops
- Staff in five Humaniversity workshops
- Written work: a report on your professional development in your work outside the Humaniversity.
- A substantial paper of four A4 pages discussing a selected aspect of therapy, explaining the topic from the perspective of at least two relevant scientific theories as well as your personal experience, including a short summary and presented to your peer group as a seminar not longer than 30min. This can also be in the form of an alternative project approved by the College of Deans.
COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
- You must have attended the workshops in the program, or alternatives approved by the Training Committee. You must satisfactorily complete all tutorial assignments.
- You must write a substantial paper on therapy,approved by the Examination board.
- The paper must be submitted within two years from the time of completion of the fourth level of the training. Extensions may be given in exceptional circumstances.
When all of these requirements are fulfilled, you will be given a Confirmation of Completion.
Course Counsellors: Sangitama & Prem Jan
LEVELS I, II, II and IV provide you with the basic essential education required for any vocation that involves working with people.
LEVELS V, VI and VII provide deeper expertise and qualify you to become a Humaniversity Therapist.
If you wish, you can have your training formally accredited by the Humaniversity toward the completion of a degree in Humaniversity Psychology.
Admission to the training is by interview.
